Engineering


  • Designer = A designer is a person who designs. More formally, a designer is an agent that specifies the structural properties of a design object.

  • Engineering Notebook = An inventor's notebook is used by inventors, scientists and engineers to record their ideas, invention process, experimental tests and results and observations.

  • Criteria =A standard, rule, or test on which a judgment or decision can be based.

  • Constraint = Constraint is the element factor or a subsystem that works as a bottleneck.

  • Invention = An invention is a unique or novel device, method, composition or process.

  • Innovation = Innovation is the application of new solutions that meet new requirements, inarticulate needs, or existing market needs.

  • Prototype = A prototype is an early sample, model or release of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from.

  • Product = Something produced by human or mechanical effort or by a natural process.

  • Design Brief = A design brief is a written document for a design project developed in concert by a person representing the business need for design and the designer.

  • Design Process = Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. (September 2009) The engineering design process is the formulation of a plan to help an engineer build a product with a specified performance goal.
